A Life Shaped by Experience

Brandon’s work comes from lived experience and a simple belief: things don’t have to be polished to be meaningful. Since the early 1990s, he has lived with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, learning firsthand how confusing systems, emotions, and everyday decisions can feel. Over time, those experiences shaped his voice as a writer, speaker, and advocate. From launching a mental health speaking initiative in 2004, to using his comedy background and natural empathy to ease difficult conversations, Brandon has focused on making complex topics feel more approachable. For more than a decade, he wrote extensively about mental health for Northumberland News and published poetry that reflects the same philosophy behind his work today: say the hard things simply, and without judgment. That same approach now guides his work helping people navigate ODSP with practical tools like the ODSP payment calculator and plain-language guides to the system. where the goal is always the same — to reduce stress, offer clear guidance, and help people feel less alone.
